KALEIDOSCOPE

A world in flux invites us to continually leave our comfort zones and seek new perspectives. For centuries, art has been a tool to expand our horizons, (re)situate the seemingly obvious, interrogate our beliefs, and so much more. KALEIDOSCOPE is a dynamic interplay of a collection of vibrant artworks.

Showcasing them in one space allows us to view them from a new vantage point and in a fresh light. Like the optical instrument it is named after, this exhibition encourages us to explore new ways of looking at the artworks that resist stasis.

A kaleidoscope provides a multiplicity of colors and patterns that continue to shift with each twist of the handle or even a slight movement of the eye while peering inside. The mirrored images are in a continuous flux. It is their instability that inspires us. It provides us with a nimble and flexible eye to view art, thus allowing us to be open and receptive to change and new ideas. We are not constrained by rigid boundaries of styles, movements, materials, and other limitations.

The artists and the pieces selected for this exhibition are marked by their vivacity, bold appearance, and vigour. Just like the images in a kaleidoscope, they work together to create new shapes, depending on the angle which they’re viewed from. While each piece is beautiful on its own, bringing them together into one exhibition illuminates the works and reveals dimensions otherwise unseen.

The diversity of these bright artworks complements and enhances each other, thus creating a continuity of a shifting image, expanding the limits of our imagination.
