Santiago Pani
As an established and internationally acclaimed artist, Santiago Pani’s pieces continue to leave an impression across the globe. From his birthplace in Mexico, to the United States and across multiple countries in Europe, Pani has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, receiving widespread recognition within the art world.
Currently based in the Netherlands, Pani continues to undertake a range of projects. In addition to working as a full-time artist, Pani serves as a director of the artist residency “Arthouse Holland”, as well as “Arthouse Pani” in Mexico.
Pani’s present works are part of an ongoing series titled “Personal Universe” which explores the unconscious process of recalling faces we encounter day to day. These fleeting impressions may go unnoticed, but they leave an imprint in the back of our minds, often resurfacing in our memories and dreams. This series is marked by abstract portraits which erase distinctive features in lieu of splashes and dashes of bright and contrasting colours. The final result leaves the viewers with an ambiguous face which reflects the transient blend of the faces residing in our subconscious.
