Oflines

The shapes are distinguished by their seeming infinity; with no indication of an ending or starting point, offering the viewers an opportunity to look at them from every perspective.

However, the pieces are not only abstract shapes. Oflines wields these shapes to write out words in his exploration of the boundaries between readable and unreadable typography. These words, often difficult to make out at first glance, reveal themselves as we are told what they are. His work thus poses a question of whether we see the things we are looking for because we are looking for them, and would they appear organically otherwise? What do we see before we know the title of each work?

From street art, to canvas, to wood, to earthenware vases, Oflines is a master of a multitude of techniques and
mediums. Last year, the artist was commissioned by Unit44 Gallery in Newcastle for a custom piece. Using a light
and dark contrast of pink and blue hues against a white background, Oflines took on 90 meters of concrete and gave
it a bright makeover, spreading art for everyone to see.
