Mike de Vos
Mike de Vos has always been deeply immersed in the world of art. From an early age, he knew that art would play a significant role in his life. The dream of attending an art academy, surrounded by others who shared a passion for creativity, was a constant source of inspiration.
To pursue this dream, Mike began by studying Graphic Design at Media College in Amsterdam. This path eventually led to his acceptance into the prestigious Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where he specialized in Illustration with a focus on Data Design. Although his time at the academy proved to be challenging, spanning five long years, it also opened new avenues for artistic expression.
The specialization in Data Design introduced Mike to a unique way of storytelling, using data collected from old letters, maps, and historical materials. This process, combined with intricate black ballpoint drawings on aged surfaces, breathes new life into forgotten stories, bringing them back into the present. Now, Mike spends his days doing what he love most: drawing, and giving voice to the past through his distinctive art.
